It starts with why

I started Joomi because I want to make a real impact on what I believe is the biggest challenge of our generation, climate change.
After more than 10 years working in the energy industry, I’ve seen firsthand how solar and battery systems can dramatically cut energy bills and reduce our reliance on the grid. From my experience with the right system, most Australian homes can run on their own power more than 90% of the time.
But let’s be honest. The solar industry doesn’t have the best reputation. It’s crowded with retailers pushing cheap products and paying subcontractors a packet of chips for installations. The result is poor workmanship, unhappy customers and a system that won’t last anywhere as long as it’s meant to. There’s even a Facebook group called “Crap Solar” with homeowners sharing daily stories of bad installs and horror stories. Some installs are so bad on there that if you don’t laugh you’ll cry.
Not all solar companies are like this. There are some great ones out there that I truly respect.
And here’s the good news. The industry is changing. It’s becoming more complex. That might sound like a challenge, but I think it’s a good thing. It’s getting harder to cut corners, and that will help highlight the good operators.
So what’s making it more complex?
Feed-in tariffs have dropped. The days of throwing up a big, cheap system and watching the credits roll in are over.
New connection rules are coming. Soon, all new systems will need to connect to the internet to export energy back to the grid. Installers will need to return over time to make sure everything is working properly. It won’t be set and forget anymore.
There’s a national shortage of skilled tradies. It’s harder to find great people to do great work.
We solve these problems by;
Designing systems that help you use more of the power you generate, maximising your returns.
Include maintenance plans to keep your system connected and performing long after installation.
Building a company that attracts and keeps great people, with solid processes, a strong culture, and work we’re proud to call ours.
Yes, we sell great products. But we are a service based business. Everything we do is designed to give a clear, smooth, and stress-free experience.
That starts with doing everything in-house. Our electricians are part of the team. That means we have full control over quality, from start to finish.
We’re determined to make a difference. We call it, Doing our bit.
I’d love your support on this journey. And I’d love to help you, your friends, or your family do your bit too.
Cheers,
Tom Joomjaroen
